This apparatus measures the skid resistance between a rubber slider (mounted on the end of a pendulum arm) and the test surface. This provides highway engineers with a routine method of checking the resistance of wet and dry surfaces to slipping and skidding, both in the lab and on site.
Portable instrument, simulates, as far as possible, sliding between the vehicle tyre and the road. The apparatus measures the frictional resistance between a special rubber slider and road surface. May also be used for “Polished Stone Value” test using specimens obtained using the Accelerated Polishing machine. When interpreting the results it is necessary to take into consideration the different operating conditions (wet or Dry road) the kind of road (uneven or with slope) the speed etc.
